Consulting Ophthalmologists, P.C. (COPC) was founded in 1977 by Drs. David A. Hill, Alexander R. Gaudio, and Martin Wand. Over the past several decades, we have grown from three to 12 doctors, offering comprehensive eye care, cataract and refractive surgery, cornea, glaucoma, retina, uveitis, and oculoplastics. Our first offices were on the campus of Hartford Hospital. In 2001 we opened our Glastonbury office and in 2004 we moved our Hartford office to Farmington. In late 2019, we moved to a custom-built, state-of-the-art facility in Glastonbury. The physicians of COPC have always been proud to be affiliated with Hartford Hospital. We are grateful for the many contributions of Dr. Hill and Dr. C. Mitchell Gilbert, both of whom retired in 2023.
In addition to providing general, comprehensive eye care, our specialty-trained physicians offer treatment options for advanced cataracts, glaucoma, cornea and external eye diseases, retinal conditions, uveitis, tearing issues and dry eye. Our oculoplastic surgeon treats abnormalities of the eyelids, lacrimal system, orbits, and surrounding tissues. Our optical shops, located in each of our offices, are staffed with licensed opticians who are specially trained to determine the best lenses for your visual needs. Our contact lens department offers both routine fittings as well as specialty fittings for medically necessary contact lenses.
A core mission of our practice is to work with other ophthalmologists, optometrists and medical doctors in providing consultation services to enhance the care of our patients. We have always kept patient care at the center of our practice as we incorporate new knowledge and diagnostic and treatment modalities. We are committed to recruiting the best physicians and staff and will maintain the latest in facilities, equipment, and techniques so that we can provide the most advanced and exceptional patient care.
We are proud to share with our patients our pride in our history and in our staff. Our entire team is dedicated to offering you the finest individualized care possible including outstanding medical and surgical outcomes in a compassionate and caring environment. We believe it is truly a privilege to serve our patients and we are grateful for the opportunity to care for those who entrust us to provide the best possible vision.
